The Henderson County Public Library seeks an energetic, motivated individual who is interested in joining its team! Primary responsibilities include assisting the Custodial Services and Maintenance Manager to ensure that the physical facilities and grounds of the library are clean, orderly, well maintained, and safe for customers and staff. This position also assists with preventative maintenance and light repair work on custodial and library equipment.
Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and must be able to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions. Applicant must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The successful candidate will be required to regularly stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee will be occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Work performed by the employee includes strenuous physical activities, and frequent sustained operation of building and custodial equipment is required. The work environment includes exposure to chemicals and vapors, debris and dust, and other uncomfortable conditions. Some work is performed outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
Excellent people skills required. Applicant must be able to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. This is a part-time position working 15 - 20 hours per week. The starting salary is $10.00 per hour. Please review the full job description in PDF format.
