Teen Services Librarian

The Henderson County Public Library seeks an energetic, motivated individual who is passionate about providing dynamic library service and programming for the teens of the Henderson community. Primary responsibilities of the Teen Services Librarian are to provide direct assistance to young adult patrons regarding the use of library materials and services; oversee the development and maintenance of the teen collection; maintain and cultivate open communication with parents, caregivers, community members, school personnel, and others in the ongoing delivery of quality service; create, plan, organize, and present a variety of programs for patrons between the ages of 12 and 18; compile statistics as needed; perform other duties as assigned.

Applicant must be able to communicate effectively, follow written and oral instructions, and follow ALA principles and guidelines as they pertain to censorship and confidentiality. Must be able to operate standard office equipment; lift and carry books up to 10-20 pounds on a regular basis; move heavy book trucks; and stoop, bend and walk.

Excellent customer service skills and computer experience required, including extensive knowledge of the Internet and social media platforms. A Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program is required, as well as experience with young adults. Library experience is required. Special consideration may be given to candidates without a Master's Degree in Library Science based on a combination of education and relevant experience in a similar field at the discretion of the Director.

The wage range is $30,000-$35,000 dependent on education and experience. Benefits include sick/personal/vacation leave, holiday pay, health insurance, and the Kentucky Retirement System. Please review the full job description in PDF format.
